According to the International News Agency, the general commander of the French army said that based on intelligence information targeted militant hideouts in Burkina Faso.
The military commander further said that 40 militants were killed in the air strike. The operation came after militants killed nine people, including a Frenchman, in an attack on Park Rangers.
The dead fighters were involved in an attack on government and French troops in Burkina Faso. In Burkina Faso, along with ISIS, local militant groups have been active for decades.
