Will the Covid 19 epidemic soon become a seasonal disease?

Medical experts hope that the global epidemic of Covid 19 will soon become a seasonal disease like the common cold, with the omicron variant causing it.

According to the medical website HealthDay, US epidemiologists have made this prediction in view of the rapidly declining Omicron variant of the corona virus in recent months.

Dr. Christopher Woods, an epidemiologist at Duke University, says that after South Africa and the United Kingdom, the Omicron variant spread rapidly in the United States, but it also affected a large number of people.

However, the number of serious illnesses and deaths (compared to delta variant victims) was much lower, while the rate was even lower among vaccinated people.

A person who recovers from an Omicron is naturally protected from all previous variants of the corona virus (SARS CoV2), including the Delta variant. "That way, more people will be safe," said Dr. Christopher.

He hopes that by the end of the current winter, the Covid 19 epidemic will break out in most parts of the world, while in the summer the epidemic will be limited to fewer places and areas.

Dr. Jonathan Quick, a professor at the Duke Global Health Institute, says that in addition to vaccines, we now have medicines to fight the epidemic that are helping to eradicate this global epidemic. However, he warned that without precautionary measures and corona vaccination, this hope could be difficult to achieve.

"In order to get life back to normal, we have to accept the 'new normal' and pay attention to vaccination as well as precaution," commented Dr. Jonathan.
