For the first time, Iran has conditionally agreed to direct nuclear talks with the United States.
According to foreign media reports, Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdullahian said in a statement that he would not ignore talks with the United States if necessary during the negotiation process.
On the other hand, in response to Iran's comments, the US State Department spokesman said that the US has been insisting for a long time that direct talks with Iran would be more fruitful.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden said in a statement that there was no time to abandon talks to restore the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran.
It should be noted that in 2018, former US President Trump announced the termination of the nuclear deal and re-imposed sanctions on Iran. Iran has since announced that it will resume nuclear activities in 2019.
Other countries included in last year's deal, including Britain, France, Germany, China and Russia, resumed indirect talks with the United States.
The talks were aimed at re-engaging the United States in the deal so that sanctions on Iran could be lifted and Iran could re-limit its nuclear program.
However, negotiations to implement the historic 2015 nuclear deal, which began this year, have made no progress since the new Iranian president, Ibrahim Raeisi, took office.
