What is the tallest building in the world and where? When asked, most people will answer that it is the Burj Khalifa and is located in Dubai, but do you know where the second tallest building is?
So know that now the second tallest building in the world is also being built in another Muslim country and that is Malaysia.
The 118-storey building in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur is clearly visible from different parts of the city with a height of 2227 feet.
If you don't know, know that the height of Burj Khalifa is 2717 feet and currently the second tallest building is the height of Shanghai Tower 2073.
At the closing ceremony of its completion on November 30, Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yakub called the project the iconic tower of the future.
He said that this is not only an unprecedented achievement of engineering but it will further strengthen the status of Malaysia as a modern and developing country.
The building is spread over an area of 3.1 million square feet, of which more than 50% will be allocated for offices.
The tower will also have a shopping mall, a mosque, the Park Hyatt Hotel and the tallest observation deck in Southeast Asia.
Public spaces and a park will also be on the ground level in a vast area of 4 acres.
The project was backed by Australian architect Fender Katsalds, who said the triangular style of the building reflects Malaysian culture.
He said that this design reflects the rich culture of the people of this country.
Achieving the title of the world's second tallest building is an added bonus, according to the company that built the building.
The construction of the building was announced in 2010 while its foundation was laid 5 years ago.
The building was supposed to be opened to the public in 2021, but construction was temporarily halted in March 2020 due to code restrictions.
