Akshay Kumar's film 'Prithvi Raj' has been the subject of controversy in India even before its release. The Gujar community staged a protest against the film in Ajmer, Rajasthan.
According to the report of India Today, the Gujar community of Rajasthan has warned the filmmakers to remove the word 'Rajput' from the film or else they will not allow it to be shown.
The announcement of Akshay Kumar's film 'Prithvi Raj' was met with controversy. Members of the Gujar community gathered near the Dev Narayan Temple in Ajmer to protest and chanted slogans against the film.
The protesters demanded that the mention of 'Rajput' be removed from the film. The protesters blocked the roads around the temple and lodged a complaint with the district collector's office.
Harchand Gujjar, president of the All India Veer Gujjar Social Reform Committee, said in a statement that the title of the film should be changed to 'Prithvi Raj' and the film should stop playing with history.
He also said that every aspect of history should be shown honestly in the film.
The Gujar community says that the great ruler belonged to our community. He also demanded that the film be shown to us before it is released in cinemas so that historical references can be reviewed in it.
In the movie 'Prithvi Raj', Akshay Kumar is playing the role of Hindu ruler Prithviraj Chauhan. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Ashutosh Rana and Sonu Sood. Actor Manoshi Chhallar, who won the Miss World title in 2017, will make her Bollywood debut by starring in the film.
The film is scheduled for January 21, 2022.
