Twelve patients have been confirmed in the provincial capital for a new variant of the corona virus, Omicron.
According to health department sources, 12 patients of Omicron have come forward from Lahore, 7 patients belong to Johar Town and 5 belong to Defense. Samples of patients were taken on December 23.
On the other hand, the number of people getting vaccinated against corona virus has started increasing rapidly across the country, so far more than 150 million citizens have been vaccinated.
Asad Omar, the head of the NCOC, said that vaccination was the only effective way to stop the spread of the corona virus in several countries.
The government has also set up booster shots for corona virus vaccine in the country. These vaccination centers have been set up in major cities where people will be able to get extra dose of vaccine.
Asad Umar, the federal minister for planning and head of the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), wrote on the social networking site Twitter that the number of people vaccinated against the corona virus in Pakistan has risen to more than 150 million.
Asad Umar further said that most of the people in Punjab have been vaccinated. In Punjab, 68 per cent people have been vaccinated, 57 per cent in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 51 per cent in Sindh and 38 per cent in Balochistan have been vaccinated. Coronavirus vaccination has been stepped up in Pakistan.
