Police in India have arrested a man who allegedly killed a mechanic and pretended to be dead.
According to the foreign news agency 'AFP', the police said that the arrested accused committed the second murder in an attempt to avoid the charge of the previous murder.
He said that in 2018, Sudesh Kumar was accused of killing his daughter who ran away from home but was not convicted.
Sadish Kumar was released by the authorities last year to reduce the number of inmates in jail due to the corona virus.
Four months ago, police found a body in Ghaziabad, a suburb of the capital Delhi, dressed as Sadish Kumar, and his identity card was recovered from the body.
"The body was partially burnt and it was difficult to identify his face," said Superintendent of Police Arj Raja.
"We took him to Sadish's house and his wife, recognizing him, immediately said that the body belonged to her husband, but we were not satisfied," he said.
Police later received a tip-off that Sadish Kumar was alive and was arrested outside his home.
Arj Raja said that "Sadish vomited everything during the interrogation".
He said that during the interrogation it was found out that Sadish Kumar had a friendship with a mechanic whom he called to his house for some work and gave him his clothes to wear and after drinking alcohol he was tortured to death.
Arj Raja said that both Sadish Kumar and his wife have been charged with murder.
