14-year-old student jailed for 14 years for watching only 5 minutes movie

 

A 14-year-old North Korean student has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for watching a five-minute movie, and his parents could face similar sentences. According to the Daily Star, the young man had only watched the South Korean film "The Uncle" for five minutes. It was a mystery drama film directed by Kim Hyung-jin.

The Daily NK reported that the convicted student is a resident of Hisan city and was studying in an elementary school. He was convicted and sent to a forced labor camp. Her parents could now be arrested and sentenced to life in prison.
