Inauguration of the world's first 'aerial museum' flight in Saudi Arabia

Passengers on a flight from Saudi Arabia to the historic city of Al-Ala will be shown a view of the museum in the air.

According to Saudi Arabia's state-run news agency SPA, guests were warmly welcomed on the first flight in partnership with Saudi Airlines and Al-Ula to see the world's first museum in the sky.

The flight was organized to highlight the importance of the historic city of Al-Ala. The flight identified only a small part of the archeological site and also showed a sample of artefacts found during excavations, which are currently being researched by experts.

The flight also aired a Discovery Channel documentary, The Architect of Ancient Arabia, in which a team of international archaeologists is seen investigating a set of ancient stone structures in Saudi Arabia.

Al-Ula is a 2,000-year-old city famous for its magnificent royal tombs in Madinah Saleh. The former inhabitants of Islam were the Nabataeans who carved out the rocks of the mountains and built the city of Batra in neighboring Jordan.

Now a team of French and Saudi archaeologists is digging at five different sites to find traces of the Dadani and Lehian civilizations. Both civilizations flourished 2,000 years ago and were considered major regional powers.

During this excavation in Al-Ula, many hidden secrets of history are being uncovered. The Sky Museum Flight has been introduced to shed light on this investigation.
