Iran's Revolutionary Guards say nine of their soldiers have been killed in clashes with the United States in the Persian Gulf.
Clashes in the Persian Gulf were started by Ali Reza Tangshiri, commander of the Iranian navy. Commander Tangshiri says nine Iranian soldiers have been killed in clashes with the United States. He did not say how the clashes began, nor did he identify the soldiers.
He said in a statement that the Iranian and US navies had clashed in the Persian Gulf. International media say the Iranian navy blocked the Vietnamese oil tanker after it clashed with the US navy in Oman waters earlier this month. Iran released the oil tanker after a week of talks between the two countries.
