Pakistan Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan spent many years abroad for the purpose of education and in later years also visited many countries as a scientist and national representative.
During his foreign trips, he took a close look at government affairs and the state system. Because he wanted to see Pakistan emerge as a strong economy using its natural resources to the fullest and considered it an important source of development and prosperity for the people, so whenever he had the opportunity, he He tried to know the secret of development and prosperity of countries and nations and kept thinking about it.
Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan in a column last year had summed up some very important and noteworthy things about his visit to China. Take a look at some excerpts from this column.
He writes: More than 35 years have passed since I went to China. I went to see the industry there to see if we could do something. He was going through a difficult time. Seeing them, it was unthinkable that in a few years China would become the world's second largest economy. I still remember his hospitality. His love for his country, his toughness, and his dignity were evident.
At that time, their biggest problem was providing food to such a large population. He came up with the solution with a very high plan. He introduced commune system at the grassroots level throughout the country. The commune is called a small complete settlement. A commune was spread over several hundred acres. Poultry farms, duck farms, fish farms, etc., vegetable farms, wheat and corn farms, all the necessities of life were being produced there. There were flats for people to live in. Electricity, water, gas were free.
Most importantly, there was a large group of barefoot doctors. They were like our well-experienced compounders, specialists in the treatment of common ailments. If a more important operation was needed, they would be sent to the hospital. He was called a doctor and was extremely useful and loved by everyone. Always smiling and serving patients. All of these people were skilled in their work and had a basic education.
This is what I saw in Europe, where every professional had a basic education and professional ability. Everywhere I went in China, I saw this happening. Clothes, shoes were the same from Chaprasi to the Prime Minister. This was also the tradition in the armed forces.
As a result, only one generation made its way from poverty to the Emirate. We were in a better position than them, but even after 70 years, we have not been able to make as much progress as China.
The whole Western world still wonders how my colleagues and I did the miracle of making this impossible possible. The answer is that we were very capable, patriotic people and the rulers were also very patriotic and capable. There was no era of nepotism and ignorance. We were all Pakistanis and we had never received any help from any foreigner. No foreigner had even set foot in our institution.
Look, I've been saying for years that we should make all the things we're importing ourselves. That's what China did and look where it has reached today. Japan had adopted the same policy before him.
