In the Iranian province of East Azerbaijan, a young man slaps the newly elected governor in a public gathering.
According to the Iranian news agency Fars, the incident took place when the newly elected governor of East Azerbaijan Province, Zine El Abidine Ben Ali Khurram, was delivering a speech at the Imam Khomeini Mosque in the southeastern city of Tabriz. In the video released by the news agency, it can be seen that a young man came to the governor walking with great satisfaction and slapped him. However, the governor's bodyguards caught the young man trying to escape and took him down the stage.
According to the report, representatives of Ayatollah Khomeini's office and other high-ranking officials were also present at the event. The youth who slapped the governor has been identified as Ayub Ali Zada and is said to belong to the country's armed forces.
Speaking to state-run TV IRIB, Governor Zainul Abidin Khurram said he did not know the attacker personally, but the young man said in a statement to police that his wife at the Corona Vaccination Center was a man instead of a woman. The staff administered the vaccine, which angered him, and the attack was not politically motivated.
