Indian cricket team batsman Yuvraj Singh was arrested by police from his home on charges of using insulting words against him during a live chat.

In a live chat with Rohit Sharma last year, he made an objectionable remark against cricketer Yuvinder Chahal, on which a case was registered against Yuvraj Singh at the Hansi City police station in Haryana.

Yuvraj Singh was arrested by the Haryana Police on Sunday in connection with the case. Yuvraj Singh immediately filed a bail application in the High Court after which he was released on bail by the High Court.

The High Court has ordered him to appear in the police investigation. Former cricketer Yuvraj Singh along with his lawyer reached the police station for interrogation.

Yuvraj Singh had used caste-based words in a joke about Yuvinder Chahal when the matter escalated and he had also apologized on social media.

In his apology post, Yuvraj Singh said, "I want to make it clear that I do not believe in any form of discrimination on the basis of color, caste or creed." I have lived for the good of the people and I want to live the same in the future.

Yuvraj Singh had said in his apology that he respects every human being, I was talking to my friends and at that time my words were taken wrongly, which was inappropriate.

"As a responsible Indian, I would like to say that if my words have inadvertently hurt anyone, I apologize for it," he added.
