A US court has ruled that singer Britney Spears' father has lost her role as guardian and financial overseer.
According to the International News Agency, a court in Los Angeles has suspended the orders of the singer's father Jamie Spears as a guardian and supervisor of financial affairs and will now be replaced by a financial institution.
The singer had filed a petition with her father last year seeking withdrawal of financial matters, on which the court also ordered Britney Spears' father to return all her daughter's assets.
The American singer Spears was diagnosed with depression by her father in 2008 under a law that allowed her to make decisions about all aspects of her daughter's life, including financial matters, but the 39-year-old singer described the move as cruel and insulting.
Public sympathy was also shown with the singer and all together campaigned for the return of these rights to Britney Spears and it was on this encouragement that the singer approached the court.
