PARIS: France's foreign minister has accused the Taliban government of lying and reneging on promises, saying "we will never accept such a government."
According to the International News Agency, French Foreign Minister John F. Lodrian said that the Taliban government works with lies and deviates from promises and now has formed a one-class government instead of a mixed one. Therefore, we will not accept such a government.
The French foreign minister lashed out at the Taliban for obstructing the evacuation of their citizens and Afghan helpers, saying they were lying and did not keep their promises.
The French foreign minister added that the Taliban had promised to allow foreigners and Afghans to leave the country freely, which was not fulfilled. Similarly, the promise to form a government of all sections of Afghanistan was not fulfilled.
The French foreign minister's statement came before his departure for Doha on Saturday night. They will discuss the upcoming evacuation operations from Afghanistan in Qatar on Sunday.
The French foreign minister also hinted that global economic sanctions could be imposed to put pressure on the Taliban.
The French foreign minister's remarks come as he travels to Qatar, where he is likely to meet with leaders of the Qatari government and the Taliban's political bureau.
It should be noted that France had postponed the evacuation of its 3,000 people from Afghanistan and held talks with the Taliban to add more people to the group, which have so far proved fruitless.
