The British government was angry with the English Cricket Board for canceling the tour of Pakistan.
According to a British newspaper report, the British government had asked the English Cricket Board to continue the tour, while the British Prime Minister and senior officials are of the view that the decision to cancel the tour has affected Pak-UK relations.
The British newspaper report said that the British ministers are also angry with the English cricket board for ignoring the government's position.
According to the report, the English Cricket Board decided to cancel the tour under the pressure of the players' union because the English board did not want to fight with the players on the Ashes issue for a short tour of Pakistan.
It may be recalled that the England Cricket Board has ended its tour of Pakistan and refused to send its men's and women's teams to Pakistan.
Earlier, the previous New Zealand team had also announced to cancel the tour of Pakistan shortly before the toss.
