A court in the Indian city of Mumbai has imposed a temporary ban on a video game called 'Selmon Bhoi' made by Bollywood actor Salman Khan at his request.
According to India Today, Salman Khan had lodged a complaint against game maker Parody Limited and Google LLC.
After which the court of Mumbai ordered to remove the game from Google Play Store till the matter is resolved.
In his petition, Salman Khan had said that the title of the game 'Selmon Bhoi' has been taken from Salman Bhai, who is popular among the fans.
He added that the name of the game and the pictures shown in it match them.
The actor added that there are scenes in the game that are similar to the alleged cases against him such as hit and run and black deer cases.
Salman had claimed that through the game, the company deliberately used Salman Khan's personality rights without his consent to gain commercial benefits.
The actor further said that his reputation was being jeopardized by showing false and misleading information about him.
He also said that his right to privacy and reputation was violated under Article 21 of the Indian Constitution.
Additional Sessions Judge KM Jaswal said the defendants had used Salman's identity for their own commercial gain.
The judge said in his order that the game bears a striking resemblance to Salman Khan's identity and that the actor had not consented to install, develop and run the game and therefore was deprived of his right to privacy. And his reputation was affected.
Giving interim relief to Salman Khan, the judge directed Parody Studios Pvt. Ltd. and Google LLC to block or remove access to Game Selmon Bhoi.
The judge further said that till the next date of hearing, the defendants should refrain from re-launching the game or making inappropriate remarks against Salman Khan by giving access to it.
