Former Afghan Vice President and current Self-styled President Amrullah Saleh have emerged following reports of his escape.
It was claimed by the Indian media that Amrullah Saleh had fled to Tajikistan in two planes with his comrades yesterday. Amrullah Saleh came to the fore after a commotion in the media around the world and denied the news of his escape.
Amrullah Saleh has given an interview to Afghan TV channel Tolo News in which he says that the news that he has not escaped is baseless. They are in their area with their people. He said that fierce fighting was going on between the Taliban and the National Resistance Front in Panjshir at present.
It is to be noted that this is the second time after the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan that claims have come to light regarding the escape of Amrullah Saleh. Earlier, while the Taliban were conquering the northern provinces, there were reports that Amrullah Saleh had fled to Tajikistan, but after the Taliban took control of Kabul, it became clear that he was in the Panjshir Valley with Ahmad Massoud. Speaking from Panjshir with TOLOnews, Amrullah Saleh, one of the resistance leaders, says he’s still there and reports of intensified fighting there.#TOLOnews pic.twitter.com/CE4kkSnfE3
