MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah has slammed the Indian government for making propaganda films.
In an interview to NDTV, actor Naseer-ud-Din Shah has said that the Indian government encourages big Bollywood filmmakers and directors to make films in their favor. He said that they should highlight the efforts of the government through films.
Naseer-ud-Din Shah said that the government also provides financial support for making propaganda films. This was done during the Nazi era. Films were made to promote Nazi philosophy.
"I have never been discriminated against in Bollywood, but I have been harassed on many occasions. There is no clear prejudice in the film industry, but those who speak out against it are harassed," the actor said in an interview. That is why the three big 'Khans' of the industry are still silent.
Pointing to the three 'Khans' of Bollywood, Naseer-ud-Din Shah said that they are worried not to be harassed as they have a lot to lose.
"I don't think Muslims are being discriminated against in Bollywood at the moment. I think our partnership in the industry is an important thing. You can earn as much respect as you can in the industry," the actor said.
Naseer-ud-Din said that all the three 'Khans' of Bollywood have reached a very high level today, I have never felt discriminated, I started getting suggestions to change my name while starting my film career but I did not, I My name doesn't seem to have made a difference to my career.
