The United States has denied the Taliban access to Afghan government money in US banks, AFP news agency quoted a Biden administration official as saying.
He clarified that the assets of the Central Bank of Afghanistan in the United States would not be handed over to the Taliban. It was not immediately clear how much of Afghanistan's funding is available in the United States.
On the other hand, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as of April this year, Afghanistan's central bank had 4 9.4 billion in foreign exchange reserves, most of which lay in banks outside the country.
