A fire broke out at the airport in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan.

Arab media say the fire was caused by an exchange of fire between US troops and gunmen.

Arab media further say that clouds of smoke are rising from Kabul airport.

On the other hand, Taliban sources say that the new Afghan government will not be announced until the complete withdrawal of US troops.

Taliban sources say it has been decided not to announce the formation of a government until the presence of a single US soldier.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said in a statement that Haji Muhammad Idris had been made acting governor of the Central Bank of Afghanistan.

The Taliban say the leadership of the Islamic Emirate has given Haji Idris the responsibility of the Central Bank of Afghanistan.

A Taliban spokesman said the appointment was aimed at streamlining government institutions and the banking system and resolving public issues.
