In India, various companies have started luring citizens to get vaccinated by offering discounts on everything from fast food to flights, while after several weeks, the economy affected by the lockdown has also started to open up.
According to a report by Reuters, various businesses are making such offers in view of the reluctance in the West regarding vaccines.
India is a country with a population of over 1.4 billion where there is a severe shortage of corona and such a concession can attract more consumers.
"We believe it is our responsibility to play a role in encouraging people in the national vaccination campaign," said Sanjay Kumar, a senior official at Interglobe Aviation, which operates India's largest airline Indigo.
The airline said people who get vaccinated and even those who receive a single dose can get up to 10 percent discount.
Similarly, McDonald's, the largest fast food company in India, has offered a 20% discount on its meals.
Grofers, a subsidiary of Softbank, has offered a one-month subscription to the program, and homegrown company Godrej has extended the warranty on its products.
India's central bank, the Central Bank of India, has also offered a large increase in interest rates on deposits to food users.
To get a citizen's discount, you need to show your vaccination certificate issued by the government.
It is estimated that 29.1 million people in India have been vaccinated after China and the United States, but only 5.5% of the population has taken both doses for complete protection from the virus.
The demand for vaccines in India is expected to increase in August.
