The Taliban have been advancing rapidly since the withdrawal of US forces began and have so far occupied large parts of Afghanistan. The latest advance has been made by the Taliban on the outskirts of Kabul, where they have captured two districts close to Kabul, while the battle for control of the nearest city, Charikar, continues.
The Taliban have seized control of two districts of Parwan province, Siah Gard and Shinwari, adjacent to Kabul, over the past few days and have now reached Charikar, 63km from Kabul. Clashes continue between the Taliban and government forces in Charikar.
The Taliban are also attacking Ghorband Pass, 50km from Kabul. Citizens say that if attention is not paid to Ghorband Pass, Taliban will soon enter Charikar city.
