Can anyone dare to cut his hand to save his life?
That's what Aaron Ralston, from the United States, did when his life was about to end.
Yes, indeed, in April 2003, Aaron's right hand got stuck in heavy rocks in an accident while climbing hills in Cannonland National Park, Utah.
They were climbing a narrow pass when a heavy rock fell on their right hand and they got stuck on a rock.
At the time, they had only a liter of water, a few pieces of chocolate and some food.
They also had headphones and a video camera but no mobile phone and even if there was, there was no mobile coverage and the most worrying thing was that they did not tell anyone where they were going.
Boulder, a resident of Colorado, USA, also made a popular film about this amazing struggle for survival.
The film was directed by Danny Boyle.
If you've seen this film, you'll surely know the story of Aaron, played by James Franco, who was nominated for six Oscars, including Best Actor, Best Picture, and Best Screenplay.
It will be 18 years since the accident in April, but so far it is encouraging.
A year before the incident, Aaron Ralston quit his job at Intel and decided to climb all of Colorado's more than 14,000-foot peaks.
In 2003, he decided to head to the highlands of Utah, using the narrow paths of free-climbing, gypsies and rope climbing.
But once they were descending from a 3-foot-wide canyon, a heavy rock shook from its place, which they thought was strong.
According to him, "I was very happy and carefree walking in this beautiful place and then suddenly I fell down a few feet. When I saw the rock coming up, I raised my hands to save myself and they Hit with the right hand and crushed.
A rock or stone weighing more than three and a half kilograms had almost crushed his right hand and Aaron went into a state of shock and at first he found it amusing.
However, then the pain attacked and he said, "If your finger ever got stuck in a door, then increase the pain a hundred times, which I experienced."
For 45 minutes they screamed and abused in pain and anger, but then they realized that water was the only thing that could keep them alive.
Since they hadn't told anyone where they were going, they knew no one would come looking for them.
"I closed the water bottle and tried to strengthen myself, I had to find a way out," Aaron said.
He had given up the option of suicide, but at the same time, such a horrible alternative immediately came to his mind to cut off his hand.
"I asked myself, 'Aaron, can you cut your hand?' I don't want to cut my hand, but you have to cut your hand. '
So at that time he could not get up and kept trying to lift the rock with his pocket knife for 2 consecutive days, then he gave up.
He held his knife in his hand and at that moment it was revealed that his edge had become blunt and he could not even cut his hair with it.
He used a knife instead of a saw to cut off his hand, but to no avail.
On the 5th day Aaron confessed that he was going to die and that this would be his grave.
At that time, the body was suffering from dehydration, while hunger and 3 degree Celsius temperature were causing panic in front of them.
He saw a little boy and he said 'I saw myself playing with this kid, I didn't have my right hand, he tells me Daddy can we play now, his The shape was telling me that he is my son and this is my future, so I was convinced that the problem is about to end.
The next morning, after provocation and a glimpse of the future, they hit the rock themselves to break the bones and then the task became easier.
At that moment the sound was terrible but he was happy because he was mentally ready to say goodbye to the hand.
"It's going to kill you. Get rid of it, Aaron. It's not in my hand anymore. When I picked up the knife, I was mentally ready. It took me an hour to separate the meat from my hand, which was very painful." It was ten, but I was also feeling happy inside.
After separating his hands, he estimated that it would take at least 10 hours to get medical help and that hemorrhagic death could occur, but he wrapped the pieces of the climbing kit around himself, and somehow reached 65 feet. They managed to climb the ladder and came out of this place.
Luckily there were 3 Dutch tourists there, which gave them water and made it possible to get medical help.
He also wrote a book on this life-saving experience, which became very popular and later became a film.
According to Aaron, this lesson made me realize the importance of flexibility in life.
It's not just a strength exercise, but it widens the mind and makes you realize that logic doesn't always work in difficult times, but you have to do something different, it's really hard to break bones in a weird way, but it's my The voice inside had become that you have to break your bones.
Now Aaron is very different from the past and instead of being self-reliant, he learned to trust others, love and relationship with family and friends taught him to live.
He recorded the crash on camera, as shown in the film, but Aaron decided not to show his video in public.
However, various parts of the video were copied in the film.
After this accident, he made a career in the field of motivational speaker, to teach other people how he made mistakes and how to overcome difficulties.
