According to the South Korean Ministry of Defense, arrest warrants have been requested for two Air Force officials. Both are accused of pressuring a female official to withdraw a rape case, which led to the woman committing suicide. The victim was reportedly raped in a car by a fellow official after she was forced to drink alcohol. The victim had moved to another location but was found dead in her home a few days later. The rapist was arrested on June 2. Both officials are accused of not only reporting the rape to their superiors, but also forcing the victim to drop the case. It is to be noted that due to the public outrage over the issue, the Chief of the Korean Air Force, Lee Seung-yong, tendered his resignation last week, which was immediately accepted by President Moon Jae-in.
