A Saudi woman who worked at the Korean embassy in Saudi Arabia has filed a complaint with the Korean National Human Rights Commission, accusing the Korean ambassador, Joe Bianggok, of removing her hijab. The Saudi woman also alleged that the ambassador used to tell her to smile whenever she came in front of me. "I felt like I was being sexually harassed," she wrote in her petition. The woman claimed that the issue was raised several times at the embassy but was ignored each time. The ambassador threatened to tell my family if I disobeyed him that I had an affair with a man at the embassy.
Ambassador Joe Biang Gok has denied the allegations. Korea's National Human Rights Commission has said it is investigating the matter. The Korean Foreign Ministry said in a statement that it was "considering whether the complaint was based on facts or was based on conjecture."
