Due to inclement weather, a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) passenger plane entered Indian airspace for the safety of passengers.
PIA flight PK306 was en route from Karachi to Lahore on Friday when the weather deteriorated on the way and the captain had to enter the Indian airspace.
According to a PIA spokesperson, permission was sought from the air traffic control in Lahore and New Delhi before entering Indian territory. Upon receipt of clearance, the plane passed through Indian airspace. Under international law, in case of bad weather or emergency, the flight can be diverted to any country.
