Pete Lao, CEO of OnePlus, a well-known smartphone brand, recently said that his company and Oppo would merge, but did not specify how that would happen.
But now a document has been leaked confirming that OnePlus has now become a sub-brand of Oppo.
Avon Blass, a well-known Twitter user of smartphone leaks, released the document, which is an official memo of OnePlus PR.
According to the memo, OnePlus is a brand within Oppo, but it will continue to operate independently.
That is, just as Huawei and Honor did some time ago, Huawei sold its sub-brand at the end of last year.
The memo added that OnePlus 'products and markets would continue to operate as normal and that the partnership between the two companies would not have a direct impact on OnePlus' career or partner relationship.
Similarly, the CEO of OnePlus will continue as the Chief Product Officer at OPPO and will be responsible for the product strategies of both the companies.
The memo said that when the two companies come together, more resources will help improve the product and increase the efficiency of operations.
OnePlus and Oppo have already merged the research and development departments and are now merging day-to-day operations.
Keep in mind that OnePlus and Oppo are owned by the same company and the new identity will not make much difference.
However, the relationship has now been publicly acknowledged by OnePlus.
