Pakistan has refused to provide military bases to the United States following the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan.
According to the Voice of America, Pakistan has formally informed the United States that it will not provide military bases to the United States for counter-terrorism operations after the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan.
Earlier, it was reported that Pakistan had provided military bases to the United States to maintain its presence in the region. The Chinese newspaper South China Morning Post had claimed that Pakistan had given back the solar air base to the United States. Earlier, the airbase was owned by the United States under Musharraf, but Pakistan withdrew the airbase from the United States in 2011 after an attack on the Salala check post.
Voice of America quoted Pakistani officials as claiming that contacts have been made between Pakistan and the United States for the provision of military bases, but Islamabad has made it clear that it is not possible to provide military bases to Washington.
The issue of providing bases by US officials is not being discussed during bilateral contacts between the two countries after a clear response from Pakistan.
