This simple sketch of Leonardo da Vinci could sell for 16 million

A simple sketch on pink paper is up for auction, which could sell for as little as 16 million or more. The reason it is so valuable is that it was created by the great artist and inventor, Leonardo Downsy.

It will be auctioned off at Christie's and is one of eight Downsy masterpieces still in private possession. It is made in silver point on pinkish yellow paper. Leonardo da Vinci learned this method from his teacher, Andrea del Verocio. It also carries silver wire and bars on chemically treated paper. It is expected to sell for 16 million, or 2.5 billion rupees.

Interestingly, this masterpiece was sold for two and a half pounds in 1860 and has been in many hands ever since. The painting is called "Bear's Head" and was previously housed in world-renowned art galleries. Ben Hall, an expert on old master's paintings at Christie's, called it one of the most valuable and important sketches. This masterpiece has been with many admirers, many of whom have been great artists themselves.

The painting, signed by Leonardo da Vinci, will be exhibited first in Hong Kong and then in London. It will then go up for auction in July. It is expected to sell for between 11 and 17.
