Egypt has agreed to buy 30 Rafale fighter jets from France for 4.5 billion.
According to the international news agency, Egypt will buy 30 Rafale jets from France for four and a half billion dollars for which an agreement has been reached between the two. The agreement has also been confirmed by the Egyptian Ministry of Defense.
The contents of the agreement were finalized at the end of April and have been signed today. More details on the deal will be announced soon. France was a major arms seller to Egypt from 2013 to 2017.
Reuters claims that the agreement reached between the two countries includes contracts worth 200 million euros with missile suppliers MBDA and defense equipment firm Safran Electronics and Defense.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron was sharply criticized for saying that arms sales to Egypt were not conditional on the human rights situation in order to combat terrorism in the region. Will do
In Egypt, General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi seized power in 2013 after the Muslim Brotherhood ousted Mohamed Morsi and since then there have been serious human rights violations. Al-Sisi has been widely criticized for restricting freedom of expression and cracking down on political parties.
It should be noted that France had earlier signed an agreement with Egypt between 2013 and 2017 for the sale of 24 fighter jets, which also had the option of selling 12 more aircraft, but these agreements could not be implemented.
