Hurriyat leader Mohammad Ashraf Sahrai died in the custody of the occupying Indian army

 

Hurriyet Chairman Muhammad Ashraf Sahrai died after spending two years in jail.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mohammad Ashraf Sahrai has been in jail since August 5, 2019. Due to severe respiratory problems, he was admitted to a hospital in Occupied Jammu, but he could not recover. He was arrested under the Public Security Act in 2019 and lodged in Kot Bilwal Jail, Jammu, during which time his family members were not allowed to visit him.

 Ashraf Sahrai's family says that they are not being allowed to bury the chairman of Hurriyat in Srinagar. It is likely that Ashraf Sahrai will be buried in his native area in Kupwara. His son Junaid Sahrai was also martyred by the Indian Army some time ago.
