Dozens more Palestinians wounded in Israeli airstrikes on Jerusalem Day

According to the Palestinian Red Crescent, hundreds of Palestinians were injured once again as a result of violent operations by Israeli forces near Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.

According to a foreign news agency, the Red Crescent said in a brief statement to reporters that "hundreds of people have been injured in the attacks" and 50 of them have been hospitalized for treatment.

Tensions were high in the region before Israel's annual celebration of Jerusalem Day, the annual occupation of East Jerusalem.

Israel captured East Jerusalem and the Old City, which are holy sites for Jews and Christians, through war in 1967.

Al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in Islam during Ramadan, is a hotbed of violence.

In a bid to ease tensions, Israeli police say they have banned Jewish groups from visiting the Holy Plaza in Jerusalem on Jerusalem Day.

In addition, the Israeli police will change the route of the march on Jerusalem Day, in which thousands of young Jewish youths pass through the Old City's Damascus Gate and the Muslim Quarter waving flags.

The live video showed clashes between Palestinian and Israeli police and Israeli police using sten grenades on unarmed Palestinians.

However, the clashes were lower than last week's violence.

Police say they have deployed thousands of Israeli officers on the streets and rooftops of Jerusalem to maintain peace.

The planned eviction of several Palestinian families from Sheikh Jarrah's neighborhood in East Jerusalem also added to the ongoing tensions.

It should be noted that the long-running eviction case was heard in the Israeli Supreme Court on Sunday, remembering that a trial court had ruled in favor of the Jewish settlers.

However, the Palestinians opposed the decision, calling it a conspiracy to evict them from Jerusalem.

US National Security Adviser Jack Sullivan expressed "grave concerns" about the situation in Jerusalem during a meeting with his Israeli counterpart on Sunday.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also expressed concern on Sunday.

In addition, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have condemned Tel Aviv's plans to evict Palestinians from their homes following attacks by Israeli forces in Jerusalem.

It is noteworthy that Israeli forces tortured hundreds of Palestinians who had gathered near the Al-Aqsa Mosque for special services in Jerusalem for the second night in a row, injuring 80 people, including a minor and a one-year-old child. 14 people were taken to hospital for treatment.

Earlier on Friday, Israeli police and Palestinian health workers said at least 205 Palestinians and 17 Israeli police had been injured in a nighttime clash in East Jerusalem.
