Pakistani-born student dies of acid attack in US

A 21-year-old Pakistani girl was partially blinded in an acid attack in the United States.

According to Daily Pakistan Global, 21-year-old Nafia Ikram was a resident of Long Island, New York. On March 17 this year, Nafia returned home with her mother. Outside the house, she was getting out of a car when an unknown person threw acid at her and fled the scene. Nafia was rushed to a hospital where she is still receiving treatment. In this incident, the girl's face was badly burnt and distorted and her eyes were also severely affected, which partially affected her eyesight.

The incident is being considered as a "hate crime against Muslims", but Nafia's father, Ikram Sheikh, said: "The attack on my daughter was planned. The accused could have thrown acid on my wife too but she did not. He waited for my daughter to get out of the car and then threw acid on her. "The incident has ruined my life and I don't even know why it happened to me," said Nafia, a medicine student at Hofstra University. “
