Today, International Women's Day is being celebrated all over the world, including Akstan, with the aim of paying tribute to and appreciating the social, political and economic struggle of women.
The day began 103 years ago today, in 1908, when 1,500 women took to the streets of New York to march for shorter working hours, better wages, and the right to vote.
Not only were they attacked by cavalry, but they were also tortured and many of them women were arrested.
In 1909, the Socialist Party of America passed a resolution celebrating Women's Day, and for the first time, Women's Day was celebrated across the United States on February 28 of that year, and has been celebrated on the last Sunday of February every year since 1913. Free
In 1910, the Second International Conference of Working Women was held in Copenhagen, in which Clara Zetkin of the German Social Democratic Party proposed to celebrate Women's Day every year around the world. Approved
March 19, 1911 marked the first International Women's Day, and more than one million women and men in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland demonstrated their right to work, vote, train, and appoint women to government positions. Participated in rallies against them to end discrimination.
On March 25 of that year, a fire broke out in New York City. The blaze, known as the Triangle Fire, killed 140 working women, leaving not only the worst conditions for working women in the United States, but also the need for legislation to end them. The emphasis was on the United States.
Then, in February 1913, Russia celebrated International Women's Day for the first time, but the same year, March 8 was set aside for this day, and since then, March 8 has been celebrated around the world as International Women's Day.
