The United States has said it will stop drone strikes outside war-torn areas, with a Pentagon spokesman saying permission must be obtained before strikes can take place outside Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria.
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby made it clear that drone strikes were not permanently banned, nor did it mean that drone strikes would not happen. International partners are committed to eliminating extremists in areas where the US military is present, but if there is no war, drone strikes have been stopped.
