Preparations are under way for a remake of the Hollywood classic The Wizard of Oz, directed by Nicole Castle, executive director and producer of the series Watchman.
According to the international website, New Line Cinema, a unit of AT&T Inn Corporation Warner Bros. Studios, said it wanted to recreate Dorothy's story and her journey to the land of Oz.
The story is in the children's book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, written by L. Frank Baum, published in 1900.
According to the studio, Nicole Castle, executive director and producer of HBO's Emmy Award-winning series Watchman, will direct the new film.
"It's a difficult task on a large scale, and I'm looking forward to dancing with these heroes of my childhood on a new yellow brick road," says Nicole Castle.
Not much is known about the new film, but it will not be a musical.
The Wizard of Oz's original film, released in 1939 starring Judy Garland, has since become a remake and spin-off of the story, including the 2013 Disney film Oz the Great. And Powerful.
