Red water floods a village in Indonesia

A village in Indonesia was flooded with red water, sparking a storm of rumors and fake news on social media.

According to a foreign news agency, a traditional Indonesian textile factory in Jingot village was affected by the floods on Saturday, after which the water flowing in the adjoining areas turned red.

The burgundy color of a large number of textile mills changed the color of the floodwaters circulating in the streets, after which photos and videos with different headlines began to be shared on social media.

On some social media accounts, this colorful water was really called a river of blood and many counterfeiters started sharing these scenes as a sign of doomsday.

It should be noted that Pekalingan is considered to be the center of batak textiles in Indonesia and there are many factories there. Local officials have also confirmed that the photos and videos of the red water flowing in the area are not fake. Other speculations about the color change of red water are baseless.
