The opposition Ittehad Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) announced a long march towards Islamabad from across the country on March 26.
Talking to media after the meeting in Islamabad, PDM President Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that leaders and representatives of all parties involved in the PDM attended the meeting. Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari attended the meeting through video link. Decisions were made after a long discussion.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that the meeting has decided to hold a long march towards Islamabad and on March 26, long march convoys from all over the country will leave for Islamabad.
"The PDM has decided that the Senate elections will be fought jointly and with a common strategy, will not compete with each other and our candidates will be joint," he said.
He said that the PDM had rejected the government's proposed constitutional amendment regarding the Senate elections and the opposition believed in a comprehensive election package.
Criticizing the government, he said that it seems that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) does not trust its members and the PTI leadership wants to make a few unpopular people senators where their own members Not ready to vote.
He said that with regard to inflation, the PDM has decided that the rise in prices of electricity, gas, petroleum and food items has made the life of the people difficult. We will stand by the side of the people to end inflation. Standing with the common man against the responsible illegitimate rulers are ready to make every sacrifice to get them out of this predicament.
The PDM president said that the commission formed by the government headed by Justice (retd) Azmat Saeed Sheikh was rejected by the PDM and termed it as a cover for their corruption.
He said that the manner in which development funds are being distributed today, the PDM has taken into account that Imran Khan himself used to say that giving development funds to members is tantamount to bribery, today the judges of the Supreme Court issued a suo motu notice. If so, immediately distribute funds among the members as bribe.
He said that on February 10, government employees are coming to Islamabad with their protest, PDM will be with them in the protests of government employees and victims from all walks of life and their full support in every protest and Will support, we will stand by them.
Talking about the foreign funding case, he said that the 23 accounts mentioned by the SBP in the foreign funding case and 18 of them are still being hidden, in this regard, he created a drama of open trial, it was a drama. Has no status and on this basis he can no longer be called honest and trustworthy and his government can be declared null and void.
He said that immediate decision in this regard is the requirement of justice, if it is delayed, it would be tantamount to killing justice.
He said that the opposition in the House would continue to protest against the attitude of the Speaker and Chairman in the National Assembly and the Senate and we would not co-operate with them in conducting the proceedings of the House at any cost.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that Transparency International has opened the fortress of their corruption, exposed them, calling the whole world a thief and corrupt has proved to be the biggest corrupt today, where he himself would hand over Transparency. He used to say that this analysis and calculation is very transparent, whoever is called a thief is a thief, so today he has called Imran Khan a thief, therefore he has been declared a certified thief.
He said that we have decided to participate in the Senate elections and we will not take a decision till the Senate elections are completed. Let the Senate elections take place then we will sit.
He said that tomorrow is February 5 and the PDM leadership will hold a public meeting in Muzaffarabad and show solidarity with Kashmiris. It is the tradition of the Pakistani nation to celebrate February 5 in solidarity with Kashmiris. Yes, but at present the situation is that Kashmir has been sold, today atrocities are being perpetrated on Kashmiris, the special status of Kashmiris has been abolished and in this protest we will stand by the side of Kashmiris and show solidarity.
To a question, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that our fight is with undemocratic people and we are protesting against whoever is involved in this movement.
On the no-confidence motion, he said that it was a matter of PDM forum and it would be discussed and decided in the next meeting.
"There will be confusion until the Senate election and as long as we are using the vote, so we can easily get there and then talk," he said.
Referring to the Long March, he said that the aim was to liberate the nation from an incompetent and illegitimate government and its votes were stolen and they would succeed in returning the trust to the nation.
