Mia Khalifa's tweet drew strong reactions from Indian social media users, who accused her of tweeting for money. Responding to the allegation, Mia Khalifa shared a photo of an elderly farmer and asked, "Were we given money?" Pointing to the elderly farmer, he said, "What a great casting director. Hopefully, when the awards season comes, he will not be forgotten. I stand with the farmers."
“Paid actors,” huh? Quite the casting director, I hope they’re not overlooked during awards season. I stand with the farmers. #FarmersProtest pic.twitter.com/moONj03tN0

Apart from Mia Khalifa, American singer Rehana also expressed solidarity with the farmers in a tweet yesterday. Greta Thunberg, a young environmental activist, also spoke out in favor of farmers.
The Modi government slammed the support of farmers by world celebrities and accused them of spreading sensation. The Indian Foreign Office said in a statement that "Parliament has made legal reforms in the agricultural sector only after discussions and debates, including sensational hashtags and statements on social media, especially when they involve celebrities." "It's not factual and irresponsible."
