Newly elected Democratic President Joe Biden has been sworn in by new members of Congress about two and a half weeks before he was sworn in.
Meanwhile, members of the House of Representatives elected Democrat Nancy Pelosi, a Democrat, by a narrow majority to become the new speaker of the lower house.
Nessie Pelosi, 80, has held the position before and is considered one of the most powerful political positions in the United States.
Similarly, the newly elected members of the upper house or the US Senate have taken the oath of office.
It should be noted that the decision to have a majority of either the Democratic Party or the Republican Party in the Senate will be made after the by-elections for the two Senate seats in the state of Georgia.
This by-election is taking place tomorrow, Tuesday.
