Newly elected Presidents Joe Biden and Kamala Harris arrive in Washington

 

US President-elect Joe Biden will be sworn in as the country's 46th president today. Newly elected US President Joe Biden and newly elected Vice President Camilla Harris have arrived in Washington.

According to private TV, the swearing in of the newly elected President will take place at 9.30 pm Pakistan time tonight after which he will address the nation and the President will announce important steps in various fields.

The swearing-in will announce an eight-year US citizenship bill for immigrants, while 11 million people are expected to be granted citizenship without legal status.

Security has been beefed up in Washington DC for the swearing-in ceremony, 25,000 National Guards have been deployed and 12 security personnel have been removed during the screening, two of whom are accused of links to right-wing extremists. President Joe Biden attended a memorial service for the 400,000 Americans killed in Corona.

"In order to heal the wounds, we have to remember the people who suffered from the plague. This process is sometimes bitter, but in the same way we can heal the wounds," said Joe Biden, "but we can heal the wounds by turning on the lights from sunset to dawn. Remember all the people we lost. Red lights were lit on important buildings in New York in memory of those killed in the global plague.
