India: 10 newborns burnt to death in hospital fire

A fire at a hospital in the Indian state of Maharashtra has killed 10 newborns.

According to the Indian News Agency, the fire broke out at the District General Hospital in Bhandara district between Friday and Saturday night, killing 10 newborns in the Sikh New Barn Care Unit.

Only seven of the 17 newborns were rescued after a fire broke out in the on-duty nurse's ward.

According to sources, the fire broke out in the hospital due to a short circuit which was brought under control with the help of hospital officials and fire brigade teams.

It is to be noted that the incident of fire in hospitals in Maharashtra is not a new thing. In September last year, a fire broke out in a hospital in the western part of the state, at that time there were more than 400 patients with corona virus.
