Vice Admiral (retd) Syed Arifullah Hussaini has passed away at the age of 59 in a hospital in Karachi after suffering from Coronavirus. He was later treated at the hospital.
Arifullah Hussaini was born in Karachi on April 23, 1961. He joined the Pakistan Navy in 1981 as a Sub-Lieutenant and received technical training from China, the United States, and the United Kingdom. During his professional duties in the Pakistan Navy, he served as Commanding Officer on PNS Zulfiqar and PNS Tariq.
He later served as Commander Pakistan Fleet and Commander Coast as well as Commander Karachi. He was also awarded Hilal Imtiaz Military and Basalt Medal for his outstanding performance in the Pakistan Navy.
Arifullah Hussaini retired from the Pakistan Navy as Vice Admiral in 2017 for personal reasons, after which he was serving as the Patron of the Karachi Hockey Association.
