UK announces further EU talks

The European Union and the United Kingdom have announced that they will continue to hold talks to resolve their post-Briggs issues. The announcement came after a telephone conversation between European Commission President Arsala Wonder Lane and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson today.

According to a joint statement issued after the telephone conversation, the two leaders said they had discussed issues that could not be resolved.

Our negotiating teams have been working day and night, the deadline for negotiations between the two sides on the new agreement has been constantly changing since Bridget, but at this moment it is important that we resolve our other issues.

"That is why we have asked our negotiating teams to go beyond what they have reached and try to reach an agreement," he said.

Earlier, European Commission President Arsala Vander Lane had set Sunday as the last day to reach an agreement.

At present, the fisheries, level playing field, and future dispute settlement procedures between the two sides are the issues on which the negotiating teams are holding talks.
