The head of the Turkish defense industry said in a statement that economic and political autonomy is not possible for any country without development in the defense sector.
Speaking at the Turkish Exporters Innovation Week, Ismail Demir said that Turkey's local defense capability is increasing rapidly, which is increasing Turkey's sovereignty and negotiating power in the region.
"Our defense capability is proving useful in foreign policy."
He emphasized that the development of a fully independent defense industry was not possible without modern technology.
He added that Turkey was also working on developing tanks, light armored vehicles, unmanned aerial vehicles, missile engines, and power transmission systems.
