Diplomatic relations between Turkey and Israel have severed two years ago, but have now been restored. According to a foreign news agency, Turkey has named its ambassador to Israel after a gap of two years and President Tayyip Erdogan Horizon Olutas, 40, has been appointed ambassador to Israel. Horizon Olutas is considered a supporter of the Palestinian cause and an expert on Iranian affairs. Turkey's decision is part of efforts to improve relations with the newly elected US administration. Till now, the Turkish ambassador has not been sent back.
It should be noted that Turkey withdrew its ambassador from Israel in 2018 in response to the attacks on Palestinians in Gaza, in response to which Israel also recalled its ambassador.
