Russian President Vladimir Putin has finally congratulated Biden on his victory in the US presidential election.
According to the Associated Press, Putin's congratulations came a day after the Electoral College's confirmation, in which Biden was declared the country's next president.
Russia has said in a statement that Putin would not be congratulated until the victory was officially announced.
Putin said last month, citing calls from several Republican leaders for a recount, "we are now waiting for the end of their internal political battle."
Congratulating Biden, Putin said in his message that he was confident that Russia and the United States would make real efforts to resolve all the issues and challenges facing the world, despite their differences.
"The cooperation between Russia and the United States should be based on equality and mutual respect, which is in the interest of the people of both countries and the entire international community,"
"I am ready to speak and contact you on my behalf,"
It is believed that the American Electoral College declared Joe Biden the winner of the 2020 elections yesterday, after which the 40-day tension has ended due to the refusal to accept the continuous defeat of Donald Trump.
All 538 Electoral College voters followed the mandate given to them by their constituents in the Nov. 3 election, with Democratic nominee Joe Biden receiving 306 votes and his Republican rival Donald Trump receiving 232 votes. ۔
The ballot will be unveiled at a special joint session of Congress on January 6 before Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, who will be elected president on January 20.
Joe Biden, who was to address his nation as the winner on election night, spoke just minutes after confirming his victory at the Electoral College, urging his opponent to launch an "unprecedented attack on democracy."
"Politicians do not come to power in the United States, but the people bring them to power. The candle of democracy was lit in this nation a long time ago and nothing can happen now, neither the epidemic nor the abuse of power,"
On the other hand, Donald Trump responded by announcing that he was firing his Attorney General Bill Barr, who had not confirmed his allegations of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election.
The president posted a copy of Bill Bar's resignation on his official Twitter page and wrote, "According to the letter, Bill Bar will be leaving for the holidays with his family before Christmas."
He added that "Deputy Attorney General Jeff Rosen, a prominent figure, will become the Acting Attorney General and the highly respected Richard Donogo will take over as Deputy Attorney General."
Donald Trump, who usually did not waste any time reacting to political developments, did not comment on the Electoral College's decision.
