A law has been passed to distribute 5% of the profits of private companies to employees.
Governor Punjab approved the Workers Participation Amendment Ordinance 2020 under which all private limited companies would be required to distribute 5% of their annual profits to the workers. After individual payments, companies will be required to deposit the balance in the Welfare Fund.
According to the ordinance, the money deposited in the fund will be used for education, health and welfare of the workers.
