The Turkish Ministry of Religious Affairs has said that prayers in Turkey and Azan will also be given in Arabic.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs has issued a statement saying that it received a lot of questions from the public asking whether prayers could be offered in Turkish. And can the call to prayer be given in Turkish?

Dr. Ali Arbash, head of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, said it was discussed with various scholars. He said that the consensus of the ummah is that prayers can be offered only in the language of the Qur'an, ie Arabic. Prayers in Turkish cannot be allowed under any circumstances. Similarly, since the call to prayer is an invitation to prayer and there is a consensus among the ummah that the words of the call to prayer will be recited in Arabic only.

A statement from the Ministry of Religious Affairs said that the Qur'an was revealed in Arabic and therefore its wording and order could not be changed. Therefore, the people are told to perform the prayers purely in the language of the Qur'an, ie Arabic. Similarly, the call to prayer will be given only in Arabic and it is strictly forbidden to perform it with Turkish translation.
